Being realistic means that you are honest with yourself about where you on your life what your potential is, and what is likely to happen. When you set unrealistic expectations for yourself, you invite stress. If you plan on being financially independent within the next 18 months, and do not have a way to realistically make that happen, it will stress you out. If you are interested in the most beautiful and successful woman at your job, and she is already dating your boss, this will stress you out too. What I’m saying is stay within yourself and aim at those things that you can accomplish. This strategy will allow you to have wins for yourself, and give you confidence rather than stress.
