Hiring a private investigator is something which you may believe that you will never have to do, but you may be surprised at how many ways they can help out. We caught up with the brilliant Jennifer Mellon recently to discuss the role of private investigators and how they can help with ah age number of situations. Jennifer and her partner Danny Boice work with Trustify which is a website that helps clients find the best private investigators for their needs. During our talk Jennifer Mellon detailed just a few of the ways in which private investigators can help out.
Background Checks
Very often a business will use a private investigator in order to review the background of a potential employee. We are all more than aware that people lie on their CVs in order to obtain positions and also may not tell the whole truth when it comes to their history. As you can imagine this is something which business needs to know before hiring an individual so they will enlist the support of a PI like Jennifer in order to check out the backstory of the person who they wish to hire.
Infidelity
Many people will enlist the support of a private investigator when they feel that their partner is being unfaithful. This takes place mostly when a couple are going through divorce proceedings. This may sound like nothing but gossip but it actually plays a key role in divorce proceedings. If one party has been unfaithful to the other they will lose a great amount of respect in the courtroom and they will be less likely to get what they want from the divorce proceedings.
Child Custody
PIs are often called on to watch one parent as they are looking after their child if the other parent believes that they are incapable of doing so. In a case like this private investigator will stake out the other parent and follow them to see how they are caring for the child. If foul play is suspected the private investigator can give an admissible testimony in court to suggest that the otehr parent is not fit for the job.
Personal Accident Claims
People who are making claims after a personal accident will often have difficulty in finding evidence such as CCTV footage or witnesses who are prepared to share what they saw. In these situations a private investigator can be used to obtain such information. PIs are very well connected and they know where and how to get the information that is needed to support a claim.
These are just a handful of the many different tasks which a private investigator can be charged with. Each day looks different for a private investigator and this is why they must have a large array of skills which they can use for the job, you may not think that you will need a PI, but you may be surprised.
