Owning a business is extremely hard and it will require commitment dedication and very long hours. Whilst many business owners understand this and do put in the work, many can be found guilty of putting in the hours in the wrong lace and actually losing out on time that should be spent on the running of the business overall. If you are looking for true success and future growth then your time must be spent on ensuring that your business operates perfectly and that you are spending time on creating plans for how your business can move forward into new areas of success. In order to free up your time, here are some tips for you which have always worked well for me.
Automation
Employing the use of software solutions completely radicalized my business and gave me far more time to spend on looking at the big picture. I began this process after I needed some help with my email system, specifically archiving, I was lucky enough to buy the best email archiving solution in the industry and from there I began buying software solutions for areas of the business like team management and accounting. I cannot tell you just how much more time I have in my day now knowing that so many tasks are being automated and if you want more time in your day, then software solutions are the way forward.
Training
If your staff have not received the correct and proper training they will be less likely to be able to do their job properly. When this happens, it means that someone else needs to pick up the slack and so on and so on, resulting in everyone doing the job that is one step below them. Business owners do not have anyone above them so if they are not doing their job, then nobody will. For this reason it is well worth spending the right amount of time with your staff to ensure that they are properly trained for the job, investing time in this now will save you a great deal of time later on down the road.
Delegation
One of the key traits of leadership is delegation and as a business owner you simply must delegate tasks and projects if you want to free up more time for yourself. Delegation is about striking a fine balance between handing out the right amount of projects to the right people and avoiding the temptation to delegate everything that comes across your desk. Remember that your job is to manage the completion of the tasks, not complete them yourself and if you really want to get that extra time in your day so that you can deal with the big picture, you need to be able to confidently delegate things amongst your team.
These three strategies alone will save you a great deal of time and ensure that you can get back to what you do best, running the business.
