No matter which country or region I drive in, I always see people driving without due care and attention. I was actually told by my driving instructor when I was studying for my test that the best approach to driving that I should make, was to assume that everyone who was driving on the road with me were idiots and could not drive. From what I have seen as a driver, I don’t always need to assume this as it is very often the case.
If you are not a sensible driver, you should address this with haste and here are just a few reasons why driving in a safe and smart manner, is the only way that you should be driving.
Avoid Accidents
The biggest reason for sensible driving is to avoid accidents, thanks to the large amount of cars that are on the road these days, you are never too far from a moment which could have huge consequences. Just imagine you are using your phone at the wheel or not paying attention to the road, and you crash into a car with a full family inside, how would you feel if you caused a death or a serious injury? This is a very real possibility, in fact we regularly see stories of this nature and if you want to ensure that you are doing all that you can to avoid a situation like this, make sure you are driving sensibly.
Caring For Your Car
If you are the type of person who likes to take corners at speed, rev the engine to its limit and brake harshly as you are driving about, you could be doing heavy damage to the parts of your car. Not only could this end up costing you money in the long run, it could also result in you breaking down when you need it least. Driving in a sensible fashion protects the parts of your car and ensures that you respect the longevity of your car’s parts.
Saving Money
Aside from the requirement to replace parts once your aggressive driving style has damaged them, there are other ways in which driving sensibly can help you to save money. The biggest money-saver from cautious driving is gas, the faster that you drive and the more you rev your car’s accelerator, the more gas that you will be using. Very often you will not even get anywhere faster and so you will be using this extra gas for very little.
As mentioned before, driving in a dangerous fashion can also cause accidents which in turn could also cost you money unnecessarily.
When you get your first car there is very much a temptation to drive recklessly, the results of this however can be catastrophic and it is vitally important that you respect both the road and other road users at all times. As much as we may bemoan them, driving law are in place to keep us safe and protected and you should always pay close attention to them.
