Dr Kami Hoss believes that braces can really turn things around for you. Braces can be proven to have been around since Ancient Egypt, mummies were discovered with bands wrapped around their teeth. We are not sure if this was due to protecting their teeth in the afterlife but some sort of correction of their teeth seems more plausible. Things have greatly improved since then! Go and speak to your dentist and they will explain.
Braces are made up of many different components with different functions.
Brackets: they are the metal or ceramic links that are glued onto the teeth and in the case of metal braces they are the bit visible to the eye.
The arch wire is the piece of wire that is connecting all of these it is usually made from metal and its purpose is to help draw your teeth to each other and become aligned to each other.
Bonding material is the term for the glue that holds them to the bracket, glue that is fit for human consumption
The ligature elastic also known as the O-ring is what connects the arch wire to the bracket they are the part which is straightening your teeth and they are usually retightened when you have your visits to the super dentist. These are what you can choose to have in fancy interesting colors.
Spacers are the bits that are placed in between your teeth and which will feel odd at first. These are necessary for the bands to fit well and to do their job effectively.
So now we have the names of the parts, how do braces work? Well your dentist will explain that by constantly exerting force on your teeth they will be forced to move into the correct alignment. It is the arch wire that will do most of the work on this and the brackets will reinforce the arch wire whilst it does this. As you are aware your teeth are cushioned by your gums and when we say that braces remodel your bones that does sound a bit scary, but this is what happens. This in turn strengthens your teeth a bit like working out builds up your muscles and muscle resistance. The pressure improves your bone density. Your super dentist will explain all of this to you.
There are some downsides to getting braces, you do have to take care of them every time that you eat, which can be tricky when in a restaurant on a date. You also are unable to eat some things and you may require a drug if you experience pain. Your dentist will help you with how to combat these with the minimal effort and the most comfort. It will all be worth it in the end.
These days braces are suitable for anyone, no matter of age, your job or how good you feel. In fact, a lot of celebrities and actors are enjoying wearing braces and experimenting with the different colors.
Anyone of any age can benefit from the health treatment of having braces. It can increase your confidence levels massively when you are no longer afraid to smile.
