In recent news, Aston Martin has stated that they plan on recalling just over 5,000 of their vehicles from the United States based on the fact that they found multiple issues with the vehicles. The company is based out of the United Kingdom and is known for their expensive sports cars. Many of the vehicles in which they are recalling were made between 2009 and 2016. Some of the issues they are concerned with are in regards to problems within the vehicles’ powertrain.
Powertrain Issues
The automaker has found many issues with the powertrain in their vehicles which they stated may cause the vehicle’s transmission park pawl to not fully engage. This issue was stated last year and was posted online through documents on the website for the National Administration for Highway Traffic Safety.
According to the reports, if the park pawl does not fully engage while the vehicle is parked on a slope, the vehicle might begin to roll if the parking brake has not been applied. This risk can increase the likelihood of the vehicle being involved in a crash. This information was given by the NHTSA.
More Recalls Expected
In addition to the current amount of vehicles that Aston Martin will be recalling, they also plan to recall even more for other issues. They will be recalling almost 2,000 of their vehicles because of issues with the battery cables. The problem with some of these battery cables is that they pose an increase in the risk of a fire being caused because of the cables.
The National Safety Board had found that if these cables became damaged, the fire risk greatly increased. The company has not responded to request for comments about these issues outside of their normal business hours.
Small Recall In Comparison
The number of cars Aston Martin is recalling may seem very small compared to other automakers. Nissan company recently had a much larger recall of some of their vehicles. The company had to recall over a million cars that were sold in Japan. The executives of Nissan all had to take pay cuts over this recall in order to recoup some of the losses. This represents much more than the 3,600 vehicles that Aston Martin sold overall globally in the past year.
For Aston Martin, the United States is its biggest market and accounts for over 20 percent of the overall sales. Many of these new sales are being led by their new Vantage model. This vehicle costs over $150,000. For most people, this car is what dreams are made of. Title lenders love to give out title loans for cars that are worth this amount of money. When someone needs money fast, a title loan is a great way to get money in as soon as one business day by using the title of your vehicle as collateral for securing the loan with the lender.
Aston Martin had stated they sold over 3,000 vehicles in the first nine months of last year. This was a huge rise of almost 65 percent from the previous year. Most of the vehicles sold cost over $200,000 each. A few months ago, the huge automaker also put out a statement saying they were also planning to recall more than 1,500 of their vehicles from China due to security risks in certain models.
