I spend a great amount of time in schools and colleges discussing career choices and one topic which is always discussed by the students is money. Usually this conversation takes place after I ask the students what it is that they are looking for in a career. It is interesting just how many students would place money as a priority over so many other things that a career can give them but I must say, I cannot blame them. While there are of course high paid jobs in a wide variety of sectors across various industries, there are some jobs with you can aim for which will help you to earn the big bucks that you are looking for.
Doctor
People like Dr. Kami Hoss are some of the best paid professionals in the country and it is very easy to see why. Doctors must display excellence from a very young age when it comes to their grades and exam results. Following school doctors must achieve excellent results in college before entering med school where they need to work extremely long hours to study to the best of their ability. Even once med school is completed a doctor must work 2 years in hospitals before being finally allowed to practice medicine, and then the real work begins. Doctors are rewarded handsomely for their intelligence, their hard work and their ability to save and cure people.
Attorney
Attorneys not only command a handsome salary, they also provide a valuable service to the constitution and the upholding of law in their country. Attorneys must also study incredible hard to get through college and enter law school where they are tested to the max as they pursue a law degree. Once law school is completed, attorneys must practice for some years before taking the bar exam and finally practicing law. Attorneys are expected to work extremely hard, they must be highly intelligent and the reward for this hard work and aptitude is a great salary with puts them amongst the top earners in the country.
CEO
If you flick through the Forbes Richest People list, you are likely to find the large majority of the list made up by CEOs or Chief Executive Officers from some of the world’s biggest companies. The reason for the large salary which CEOs command is due to the responsibility which is placed on their shoulders as the head of their board and of the firm. In order to attain the position of CEO you must either have an idea for business which can take the world by storm, or work your way up the company ladder. Working your way up to the position of CEO is not easy however and you must be results-driven, a natural leader and have the ability to communicate with the upper echelons of the business world in order to even be considered for such a coveted position.
